School fields last 5 days, from Monday morning to Friday afternoon and provide boys’ overnight stay in farm holiday centres and / or mountain refuges, arranging 4/5 pupils per room.
During the stay many activities will take place; for example, excursions to sites of the Park that are very important from a botanic, geological, historical, ethnical and cultural point of view. The excursions are grounds for didactic studies in depth.
Among the walks inside Madonie Park we recommend:
• Piano Pomo with the gigantic hollies;
• Vallone Madonna degli Angeli with the Abies nebrodensis;
• The old barns;
• Monte dei Cervi and the coal cellars;
• Karst phenomenons of “il piano della Battaglietta”;
• Minà Palumbo Museum of Castelbuono;
Among the walks inside Nebrodi Park we recommend:
• Mangalaviti Wood;
• Maullazzo Lake and il Biviere di Cesarò;
• The damp zone of Urio Quattrocchi;
Furthermore, during the excursion, it will be possible to study in depth the orienteering techniques by using topographical maps and compasses and a “field diary” will be made.
During the stay, only typical products of Sicilian gastronomy will be served for the meals.
Breakfast includes: milk, yoghurt, toast, butter, jam, honey, fresh tart. Packed lunch, for the excursions, includes two sandwiches with cheese and ham, a fruit and a 50 cl mineral water.
It’s important to know if there are pupils who suffer from food intolerances or allergies, in order to prepare meals in time.
For lunch it is possible to choose in the menu a first course among three, a second course between two, a side dish, fruit and water.
The price, per pupil, includes the accommodation on full board, five days four nights, the assistance of two Association’s operators for the whole period of the field, three excursions among the recommended ones, transfer from and to school by coach.
Extra beverages, such as fruit juices, are not included; we have chosen to not distribute fizzy drinks like Coca Cola, Sprite and similar.
